Tiger Canada International Indoor RC Shootout

Format:
New for 2006. We are pleased to announce that there will be 2
categories for the International Indoor RC Shootout. The new
“Shooters” entry level class will fly on Saturday, November 4,
qualifying 11 am and final at 3 pm. The Masters class will fly
Sunday November 5, qualifying at 11 am and final at 3 pm.
The top ten from each class will move on to their finals
competition with qualifying round score used to set flight
order. It will be possible for pilots to move up from Shooters
to Masters if they feel confident.

Note: Previous competitors in the Thunder Tiger Indoor RC
shootout may only fly in the Masters category. Shooters category
competitors may submit a second registration form with payment
for the Masters’ category.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CONTEST
VENUE: The flying site is 70 feet by 135 feet with a 15-foot ceiling.
REGISTRATION FEE: $25.00 per entrant with the application
form, payable to “The Hobby Show.”
PRIZES:
Registered pilots will receive two weekend passes to The Hobby
Show, plus a “pilot” and “crew” Thunder Tiger Canada Indoor RC
Shootout commemorative hat. There will be a prize lottery for
all pilots.
Shooters
Category: Trophies to first place
Masters Category: First place $600, Second place
$300, Third place $100; plus a prize lottery.
PRACTICE: The
venue will be used for open flying while The Hobby Show is open
and practice or fun flying is welcomed.
AIRCRAFT:
1. The pilot may use multiple planes, and can switch back and
forth during the competition.
2. Airplanes must be operated by battery-powered electric
motors.
3. Fixed wing aircraft only.
4. A 20-ounce maximum weight limit (ready to fly).
5. Must use a rubber spinner to cover prop shaft. The use of a
"prop saver" is an acceptable alternative. (This is Mandatory.)
6. Wing, stab and elevators of any construction.
7. Fuselage may be built up, of any construction.
8. Any additional control surfaces are allowed.
9. No Scale outline required.
10. In the event an airplane is severely damaged by accidentally
hitting the floor, ceiling, posts or walls the pilot will be
asked to land.
FLIGHT ORDER: The flight order will be determined by
random draw after qualifying and semi final rounds results are
determined.
FLIGHT PREPARATION:
1. On the Air Boss’s signal, the competitor will have 30 seconds
to get into the air.
2. This includes time on the ground for his crew to set up the
flight line or do any preparation that might be necessary for
the flight. The crews will not be allowed in the flight area at
any time during the flight.
3. The pilot will be allowed to have 2 additional people for
ground crew, to set up accessories (limbo poles, streamers,
etc.), but they will not be allowed to assist in the flight of
the aircraft.
TIMING: (The Flight will be timed at 2 minutes)
1. The starting point of the timed flight must be pre-determined
by the pilot, and judging will commence from that point.
2. It may be a point from which the wheels leave the ground, or
it may also be an "air-start." This must be made clear to the
air boss prior to flight.
3. The judging will cease at the air boss' indication that the 2
minutes has expired.
4. The aircraft can come into contact with the ground, ceiling,
walls or posts during flight. This will not effect the time.
RETRIEVAL: The pilot will have 30 seconds to get back on
the ground and clear the flight area, to allow for the set-up of
the next flight.
DISQUALIFICATION:
1. If the crew/assistants touch the transmitter at any time
during the flight.
2. If the airplane does not meet the pre-established guidelines
of the event.
MUSIC:
1. The music will be provided by the competitor.
2 The same music doesn’t have to be used for all the flights.
3. The music determines the tone of the flight, and the flight
characteristics.
4. The music can be formatted on either CD or cassette.
5. Make sure you bring an extra CD if it is burned (some CD
players won’t play all.)
6. The music may be started by either a pilot assistant, or one
of the International RC Indoor Shootout staff.
7. Music is not necessary, but will result in a zero in the
Harmony and Rhythm judging category.
SPECIAL EFFECTS: All special effects (limbo, steamers)
must be pre-approved by the Organizer. This is for safety
reasons as well as Insurance liability purposes.
Judging: Five categories will be evaluated with equal weighting.
Execution: Quality and precision of the maneuvers.
Versatility: Ability to display a wide variety of maneuvers.
Originality: Creating new figures or variations on known
maneuvers.
Flow: How well the flight is paced moving from maneuver to
maneuver.
Harmony and Rhythm: How well the flight is choreographed to
music.
